if you wait long enough a rainbow appears

the fabulous thing about hawaii are the non-stop rainbows.  for awhile they were occurring on a daily basis, but i have not seen one for several months.  it's been 2 1/2 days of incessant rain.  today finally a long rainbow finally appears just to the right of our window.  anthony was so excited to see this, taking a photo of it, and updating his facebook status for it to appear there.  he later said, maybe my time in hawaii really is to prep my restaurant.  this was relieving to hear that maybe his heart was melting if even briefly for hawaii,  and double the pain with yesterday's anniversary.

today, i met with a friend who was visiting from los angeles.  she was here with a work colleague on assignment.  i chose a tourist spot, right on the water.  as i walked there, it drizzled slightly before the sun shone.  i actually felt bad that her stay was filled with at least 2 days of rain.  but one of the first things she said was they saw a double rainbow.  and decided to take  a brief swim this morning.  we cannot always predict the weather upon booking a trip, but just like yesterday's "make the most of a rainy day," now "look  for rainbows."  After the storm passes, the sun feels brighter, we are actually appreciative of good weather instead of taking it for granted.  a rainbow symbolizes the joining of both the rain and sun. and to see one as a tourist is pure gold.
